MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION
MPI is a non-destructive testing (NDT) process for detecting surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys. The process puts a magnetic field into the part. The piece can be magnetized by direct or indirect magnetization. Direct magnetization occurs when the electric current is passed through the test object and a magnetic field is formed in the material. Indirect magnetization occurs when no electric current is passed through the test object, but a magnetic field is applied from an outside source. The magnetic lines of force are perpendicular to the direction of the electric current, which may be either alternating current (AC) or some form of direct current (DC) (rectified AC).

POSITIVE MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION
‘PMI’ is non-destructive testing method known as positive material identification. Positive material identification (or alloy analysis) is the spectral analysis of the elemental composition of alloys, metals and steel.
PMI is commonly used on old pipes and metal parts to determine exact composition of the material so that welders can safely and effectively work on the metal. Our PMI equipment is portable for easy use in the field. After a reading is taken, the data is analyzed by a computer to determine the exact percentages of different elements. Results are then printed out and given to the customer on site.
Radiographic testing examines welds using specialized equipment that utilizes Iridium 192 as the radioactive source. Film is processed on site and interpreted to all applicable codes. Our mobile units consist 2-3 man crews using trucks that are fully equipped and self-contained, including dark rooms and generators.

LIQUID PENETRANT TESTING
Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT), also called Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Penetrant Testing (PT), is widely used to detect surface defects in castings, forging, welding, material cracks, porosities and possible fatigue failure areas. We offer a variety of LPT procedures including visible, fluorescent, water washable and solvent removable processes to meet our customers’ specific needs.
Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM) is frequently used to asses corrosion, erosion, and mechanical damage of the structural materials on tanks, vessels, piping, castings and structural steel. The testing is accomplished with portable equipment and the results are evaluated to industry standards, codes, or customer specifications. This method can locate and measure the amount of corrosion, erosion or voids within a material. This data is than used to assess the life expectancy of the component or if repairs are required before returned to service.
Shear Wave sometimes referred to as Angled Beam Ultrasonic testing is a portable testing method that offers an effective test for weld inspection in pipes, pressure vessels, plates or in areas that other test methods are not feasible or practicle. The shear wave method is great for fusion type defects or cracks, whither it is in a weld or on the specimen itself.
